Instant Star and Degrassi account for three of the four nominations in the Family TV category of the Directors Guild of Canada Awards. The winners will be revealed at a ceremony this coming November... Instant Star received two nominations, one for the opening episode of Season 4, the other for episode 404, which include the homage to Sgt. Pepper's. The Degrassi episode nominated was 710, in which Emma protests a school sponsorship program. Degrassi received an additional nomination for Best Sound Editing.

I've heard the songs that Alexz Johnson has been working on writing over the past weeks, there are now well over a dozen contenders for the final slots on her forthcoming solo album, and the nice problem is clearly going to be trying to narrow the songs down, there are so many brilliant ones! These are songs that you just can't get out of your head--and you don't want them out of your head they are so compelling... And while I would not have thought it possible, Alexz's vocals just seem to get better and better!

Meanwhile back at the Epitome studios we're in the middle of a hiatus on Degrassi, and will start shooting again in September with the special four-part series of episodes, some of which will be shot in Hollywood... these episodes are being shot out of order due to performer availability, and will be the final four episodes of Season 8... they are set over the winter school break...

And finally we are now confirmed to be shooting a pilot episode for a new series we have created... we'll shoot the pilot episode in early November, and depending on how the pilot looks we'd hope to shoot a further 13 episodes next year. Can't say too much now about this new series... but to avoid speculation and rumours let me say that this is NOT a spin-off series or in any way related to Instant Star! That doesnt mean that I wouldn't love to do something more along the lines of an Intant Star (where or not it was related), but the pilot we are shooting is NOT in that line. I can confirm though that it is a drama...
